'92 toyota- How do I keep my breaks from dragging all the time?

Took the wheel off yesterday to change fuel filter and noticed the caliper was touching the disc hard enough that it took me two hands to turn the unit. This must be cutting down on my fuel mileage and wearing out my break pads too. How do I release a little tension on the breaks?'92 toyota- How do I keep my breaks from dragging all the time? The pads will touch the rotors, this is normal. When the wheel is on and you roll the tire can it then be done with one hand? If so then the wheel will should roll for a bit. If you can`t roll it with one hand or it stops when you let go then you have a sticking brake caliper. The caliper should be replaced then. There are no adjustments that can be done to it. Good Luck.'92 toyota- How do I keep my breaks from dragging all the time?the caliper is hanging up. it looks like you need a new caliper. look at the other side to see if it,s doing the same thing.'92 toyota- How do I keep my breaks from dragging all the time? You have waited too long to change your brake fluid. If you read the manual, it tells you that the fluid must be changed before it becomes too acidic and starts to corrupt the caliper pistons. You can loosen the pistons by %26quot;exercising%26quot; them %26quot;in%26quot; and %26quot;out%26quot; with a large screwdriver to help remove the brake sludge that inhibits their proper functioning. Only use genuine TOYOTA brand brake fluid, when you change it. Anything else may cause a bad chemical reaction and further deteriorate your piston seals. Good Luck!!!

How do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup?

I want to change the fuel filter on my 1989 chevy pickup because it has been setting for over a year and pressing on the gas I hear the truck struggling as if not enough gas getting to the engine.

The fuel filter package says the pressure should be released before installing. Please explain the steps to do so and to change the fuel filter.

I appreciate detailed instructions, as I give detailed instructions when I answer someones question. Also please tell me if addntl parts need to be changed.

I will be more than happy to award the 10 points to the correct instructor.

Thanks again all you wizards (mechanics).How do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup?the pressure should mostly bleed off by itself it you just let it sit for a while and cool off. There will be a small amount of pressure on the line when you first take it loose mostly from gravity drainage. Might pick up some absorbent pads for this, or some oil absorbent or cat litter will do just as well. use a drain pan to catch most of it and to have a place to set the old filter when you change it out. Be ready for a shower afterward because there is almost no way to do this in the driveway without getting some splashed on you. Mechanics in a shop with a lift can just back off and let it go into their waste oil drain system, but crawling under it even with a creeper restricts your movement. Start with the engine side first and the filter will control the splash and allow it to drain off a little before pulling the other end. A couple of minutes will do. Have the new filter ready and quickly disconnect the back side and put the new one on. be careful of the direction of flow as some filters have a back flow or check valve built into them. Tighten the connections and check for leaks. A tip before starting is to loosen your clips holding the lines and filter in place before hand and this will make the job a lot easier. Not sure if the 89 has screw clips or press clips. If it's press clips then pop the filter and lines loose with a screwdriver, or if its screw clips then take them loose with a ratchet beforehand. this gives you easier access and will make the job go faster. As far as an actual pressure relief valve, I've only seen that on some heavy equipment with big diesel engines. that instruction is just one of those quirky things that the manufacturer puts in to cover their rears.How do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup?if you leave it overnight, the pressure will have dissipated anyhow, and it will just be a tiny bit of gas in the lineHow do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup?well i had a 88 chevy pick up%26quot;differant year same truck%26quot;

all i did was let the truck sit for like 2 hours and it was fine

when you disconect the fuel lines from the filter gas will come out cause it is full anyway

tip: get a fuel pressure gage and check the pressure from the fuel pump

you already have the filter off anyway you can rent them from you local auto parts store

hope this helpsHow do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup? This truck has a low-pressure TBI fuel system, so all you need to do is remove the fuel cap, which is sufficient enough to release any pressure that may be in the tank.

The fuel filter is located along the inside of the driver side frame rail, and more often than not, the lines are rusted to hell and will probably break as soon as you attempt to unscrew them from the filter. Be prepared to go back to the store to buy fuel line, as this will likely happen. Hopefully you are lucky though. You will want to have a catch pan underneath the fuel filter area, as a surprising amount of fuel will spill out. You can always temporarily cork the end of the fuel line with a piece of a plastic bag and an elastic band to reduce fuel loss if you want to.

There is a bolt that holds the fuel filter bracket in place. You may need to remove this bolt if it gives you heck. (13 mm socket) There are brake lines in the area as well, be careful with those, they will probably be quite crusty.

Install new filter, making sure you install it the correct way, there will be an arrow on the filter indicating direction of fuel flow.

Run engine and check carefully for any leaks.

Hope this helps. How do I release fuel pressure and chg filter on 1989 chevy pickup?the way i do it on my 88 oldsmobile is i take the gas cap off.

How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?

My engine stopped running a few days ago. We looked at it and have determined that no fuel is getting to the engine (or not enough). A day or two later I was able to start the engine, but turned it off after a few seconds and then it would not start again afterward.

Are there any specific signs or clues (symptoms, if you will) that will help me determine whether the problem is the pump itself or just the filter, before I go pulling things apart? A Ford guy also suggested the possibility of a problem with the relay, but I'm not sure what that is.

To help you help me, here is what I can tell you... There is no problem with the electrical. The car powers up just fine, and when I turn the key to start the engine, it tries to start but the engine never actually kicks in. Our neighbor brought over some kind of spray, opened the tube were the air filter goes, and sprayed some in and told me to try to start the car. The engine started, but only ran for short time. It was at that point he said it might be the fuel pump.

I bought the car used from a friend long ago. I don't recall EVER having the fuel filter changed, and I highly doubt the guy I bought it from did, either. I have done a lot of off-roading in the desert, too. These are all good reasons why the fuel filter could be the problem.

I'm on a super tight budget, otherwise I would just take it in and say %26quot;here, figure it out please%26quot;. I'd like to try to figure out what exactly the problem is myself, that way I'm only paying for what actually must be done.

Thanks in advance.

If you need more information in order to help me, give me your email or something and I will get back to you that way.How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?Your friend sprayed starting fluid into the intake. The fact that it started %26amp; ran for a couple of seconds was the starting fluid burning off.

First, make SURE the car is not out of gas! Check to make sure that the fuse to the fuel gauge is not blown. On that model Ford, when that fuse blows, the gauge STAYS at the position it was when it blew, even if you turn the car off %26amp; turn it back on. It APPEARS to be working and it appears that you have gas but the gauge will NOT go down to the E.

The NEXT thing you need to do is check for a blown fuel pump fuse. If THAT'S good, then:

Take the gas cap off, put your ear up to the tank, %26amp; have someone turn the key to the %26quot;on%26quot; position (not the %26quot;crank%26quot; position). You should hear a faint whirring sound for about three seconds, then it will cut off. If NOT, then the pump is not working. This means that either no electricity is getting to the pump, OR the pump is bad.

Behind the side panel, just in front of the passenger door, will be an electrical component about the size of a walnut. This component is called the %26quot;inertia%26quot; or %26quot;rollover%26quot; switch. Its' purpose is to shut off the electricity to the fuel pump in case of an accident. Sometimes the switch goes off for no reason, and has to be reset. There will be a button on the side of this switch. Push this reset button and retest to see if the pump starts working.

If this doesn't work, then you'll need to get a test light and test the wiring to see if and where the electrical circuit is not closing. Start with the wires AT the tank and work your way forward until you find electricity flowing for those three seconds that the switch is on. If you have 12v flowing into the tank and the pump still isn't working, then you need to replace the pump. Otherwise, you'll have to keep testing the circuit until you find the problem. Test for 12v going INTO the inertia switch AND going out. Unplug the fuel pump relay from the fuse box and test for juice going into it. If so, plug it back in and turn the key on while feeling the relay. It should make a clicking sound that you can feel. If not, replace the relay.

If, on the other hand, you HEAR the pump running when you do the original test when you put your ear to the tank, that STILL does not necessarily mean that the pump is good. Unhook the line going into the fuel filter and do the 3-second test to see if you've got fuel flow coming out of the tank. If no flow or only a trickle, replace the pump. Then hook the filter back up %26amp; check for flow coming OUT of the filter.

Sorry for the long post, I tried to compact it as much as possible, but there are just too many tests needed to get to the bottom of the problem. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?fuel pump no doubt..that's why it runs until the pump gets hot then wont start.a bad fuel filter will make your truck sputter but still start. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?i had same prob with my saab and it was the pump and if u knocked the petrol tank it would start then cut out so i think it may be your pump has gone. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)? Is it carburetor or FI? If you want to know if its the pump you can try to hook up a fuel pressure gauge if you can get your hands on it but you should hear the fuel pump activate as soon as you turn the key on the ON position sort of like a buzz try to have some one listen by the tank. But chances are your filter is dirty clogging the fuel port to get to the cylinder. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?I just went through the exact same thinking with my jeep last week, This is how went about it. I went for the fuel filter first it was only a $30 gamble but given the age of the car and the miles I had on it it should be replaced anyway so I figured that was money well spent.

Long story short it ultimately was the fuel pump. I called a shop for an estimate and it was $313 for the pump and $200 for labor. So I purchased the entire fuel pump assembly at Advance auto for $230 and with a floor jack and a buddy to help. Within 3 hours I was back on the road. It wasn't hard at all to drop the tank( and it was full ), even had to remove the trailer hitch too. I saved about $283.00 and a tow bill. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)?OK first you find fuel filter take aloose the end going toward the front of the car , try to start the car if fuel comes out there good then its the fuel pump, If it doesn%26quot;t come out good its probably the fuel filter, you can look at the filter an should be able to c if it%26quot;s dirty. How can I tell whether I need to replace my fuel pump or fuel filter ('95 Ford Explorer)? Thanks for all the details. Every one should be so specific.

First of all try this. Strike the bottom of the fuel tank firmly with something similar to a baseball bat. Now try to start. If it starts, your fuel pump is on its last leg, possibly just giving you its last start. If it doesn't start, have a helper turn the key to the %26quot;on%26quot; position while you listen to the fuel tank after removing the gas cap. It should hum for about three seconds, then shut off. If not, check the relay. It is in the underhood fuse block. It should be labeled.

A fuel filter that has been long neglected could be the cause for a fuel pump failure. After a while, the pump has to work harder and harder to force fuel through the filter, which eventually causes it to burn itself up. Also, using fuel additives is hard on a pump and so is running low on gas. The fuel pump is most efficient when submersed in gas, keeping it running cool and having an unobstructed fuel filter. A fuel filter should be replaced once a year, or every 10-12,000 miles.

How do I bleed the fuel Lines of my car?

I recently changed the Fuel Filter of my Honda Accord 88, since still the car does not start, a mechanic told me that the only thing I must do is to bleed the fuel lines and the car should be fine after that. How do I bleed the fuel Lines of my car?How do I bleed the fuel Lines of my car?Be sure that you installed the filter correctly (with the flow going to the engine). If that is OK, turn your key on and off several times to get the fuel pump working. (Do not engage the starter, just cycle the key)

Make sure you have a fully charged battery. This may seem weird, but Hondas of that age do not do well with a low battery, even with a jump start.

  • How do I unplug the fuel relay in my 4runner?

I have a 92 4runner. The fuel relay is in the fuze box. It seems like I can just pull it out. I tried and it was resistant. I feel like just yanking it hard to get it out but dont wanna damage anything. Is there a certain way to unplug them or do I just pull lightly Maybe with some pliars? I want to do this before changing my fuel filter. I hear it helps not bleed as much fuel out.How do I unplug the fuel relay in my 4runner?first of all. why are you changing your fuel filter? this is not a fun filter to change! plan on just replacing the fuel line because it will most likely snap. years of working in a toyota dealership and we never replaced these unless the fuel pump died.

second of all. pulling the fuel relay will not reduce the pressure in the lines or save any fuel from leaking out. the fuel pump will not turn on while the key is out of the ignition, so there will be minimal fuel pressure. expect a busrt of fuel at first and then a slow trickle...

third of all. the relay will not want to come out. chances are its been in the same place since 1992 so its probably sort of stuck, just keep working it and it will eventually come out.How do I unplug the fuel relay in my 4runner?Removing the relay want help release the fuel pressure. The best way to work on the fuel system is to let the engine cool down for about three hours before you begain removing any fuel lines, the fuel filter will either by under the hood or next to the fuel tank, you should be ok if you slide a drain pan under the filter to catch any spilled gas.

How do i change the front fuel pump in a 94 Ford F150?

I have a 94 Ford F150 with a 5 litre engine 2 wheel drive that is not getting gas. It starts when i spray starting fluid in it. I'm not exactly sure what needs to be removed to get the tank off to change the pump. Does the fuel filter line need to be taken loose first? Can I just take the straps loose and drop the tank without taking anything else apart first? What type of problems should I be aware of before I start this project? How do i change the front fuel pump in a 94 Ford F150?If you have a hoist or just a couple of buddies the easiest is to take the bed off and all the access you need is right there. To take off the filler there should be three screws behind the filler door around the gas cap. This is required. Other than that take off your skid plate (my 94 3/4 ton has one, but my 94 1/2 ton did not) and take loose your straps, and keep an eye one the wiring harness leading up to the pump and sending unit (right hand side). Other than that just lower your tank. How do i change the front fuel pump in a 94 Ford F150?Pull the bed as stated above however remember the rear light wiring harness. This is a whole lot easier than dropping the tank.

How can I test a fuel pump in a 97 Chevy Express Van?

I have a 97 Chevy Express that just stalled out on me. The engine cranks when I turn the key but sounds like it's not getting any fuel. I changed the fuel filter, I can hear the fuel pump relay %26quot;click%26quot; on when turn the ignition key. I'm guessing maybe the fuel pump is bad. Since it's in the gas tank, I'd like to be able to be sure of that before tackling that job. OR is there another possiility that could be preventing it from starting? How can I test a fuel pump in a 97 Chevy Express Van?The only way to know is to put a pressure guage on the fuel rail. You may get fuel by pressing the valve but you have no way of knowing if it has the correct pressure.

You did not say what engine you have, but the 5.7L needs 60 to 66 psi.How can I test a fuel pump in a 97 Chevy Express Van?turn the key to the %26quot;on%26quot; position without turning over, go back to the tank and listen for a whine sound, if you dont hear that sound the pump is dead. also on the engine there is a fuel rail, on the rail there is a schrader valve, looks like a bike tire valve. put on safety glasses and depress the needle in the valve and hold while the key is on, this should let you bleed down the pressure. turn off for a couple seconds, then turn on and recheck for pressure, if you have high pressure again, the pump is ok.

How do you bleed the fuel system of a 2003 suburban?

Just changed the fuel filter and don't know how to bleed the system. Truck isn't getting fuel. How do you bleed the fuel system of a 2003 suburban? You should not have to bleed it... This is a GAS engine right?? If not ,you may have to crank over a diesel several times before fuel will reach the injector pump...

On the gas engine, there is no fuel system bleeding needed. How does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed?

I have an 02 mercedes s430, and I have noticed its lazy on me, its doesnt have the horsepower it did b4, the other night i had stepped on the gas pedal and it kinda hesitated to catch speed velocity, and it doesnt want to go past 70mph..what could this be. There are no noises coming from t he car its normal when im at a stop, its just the horspwer, seems weak, my friend said it sounded like a fuel filter problem... Advice please??How does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed?could be the fuel filter. also take a look at the air filter. the air filter will do that tooHow does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed? What you described could be a fuel filter, that is rather typical behavior for that. It could also be clogged fuel injectors or a clogged air filter.

I would change the filters, they are usually rather inexpensive, and add some injector cleaner. How does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed? It could be several different things. I'm not familiar with Mercedes but it could be a fuel filter. That would fairly inexpensive to begin with.

When is the last time it had a tune up? It may need new spark plugs and wires, etc.

It could also be much more involved. I would change the fuel filter first. If that doesn't fix it then see a good mechanic. How does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed?yes you seem to on the right track it sounds like the fuel filter the most commom speed for a filter sign is at about 60 to 70 mph. but dont be fooled it is an easy change if it is the external one it should take about 20 minutes because the benz has a disconnect type of connector even on the filter its self theres no mis.How does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed?thats possible or ur fuel pump may be getting week and needs 2b changed either way changing both would b a good idea...its tune up time.. also consider plugs, wires and distributer cap and ur car should run like u want it 2 againHow does a car start acting when it needs the fuel filter changed? Before you start changing parts, I would take that car and have it diagnosed properly. There's nothing more wastefull than guessing and throwing parts in car and %26quot;hope%26quot; that it will fix the problem. First of all if you have a clogged fuel filter or fuel injectors, it will cause the car to run %26quot;lean%26quot; due to the restricted flow of fuel and the car will throw a %26quot;check engine%26quot; light. Take it to a dealer, and who knows they might just have a service bulletin regarding the problem you're having.

I have changed the fuel filter %26amp; it was full of rust. This stopped the sputtering at low speed 4 about a week. Think it probably needs changed again. It takes 3 bolts that are 7/32 of inch and 3 clips . This makes it easier to get to back plugs . I do a lot of Taurus repairs and this is the best way to get your hands back there . If it is a DOHC motor you have to pull the upper intake if it wraps over the plugs . Have not changed a 2004 DOHC so I am not sure but on the 2001 you have to . Good luck and this is about a 2 hour job taking your time less on the 12 valve Vulcan motor . Do not get frustrated it isn't all that bad .Do you have to pull the head on a 2004 Ford Taurus to change the spark plugs? No need to remove head, the back cylinders are a bit of a pain to remove and replace plugs in , but straightforward job. Change that fuel filter also, it will always help, if the last one was plugged you can be sure it will be doing it again.

    Fuel filter?

Ok, so i'm going to change my fuel filter, I know how to change it, but thats it. What other steps do I have to take?

Does the fuel system have to be de-pressurized? If so, how?

    It's an 89 GMC sierra.

Thanks.Fuel filter?Ok heres the skinny on your little situation the fuel system needs to be depressureized its fairly simple find the fuse for your fuel pump and take it out now start your truck and let it turn over for about 15 or 20 seconds there you go seing that is an 89 if I recall you just need a set of wrenches just ask at the parts store where you get it and if you need a quick disconnect fitting tool you can get them at the same time for about 10 dollars now when you get under there and there is a quick disconnect there are 3 a blue and 2 white ones but the biggest one is for the a/c system it should be the blue one put it on the end of your old filter push it in and slide the fuel line off put it back together and your all setFuel filter?its been 3 years, but double check some chevys and gmc require a special tool to take it off, and put new one on. If you dont get any good answers I will phone a friend and find out for sure, he is a grease monkey. oh dont forget to prime when u are done. turn key to the on position 3 times, but dont crank it, should be able to hear the fuel pump and double check for leaks before you crank, and check again. other then that should be it, put a lil pan under it when u disconnect it, and dont have ur face right under it, lesson many learn the hard way. should get a lil fuel out but not a ton, and old filter will have some in it.Fuel filter? The only thing to do is make sure the keys are not in the ingnition, take the gas cap off, and spray the lines with some PB Blaster and let soak for a while to get rust off. No matter what you will have some pressure in the lines and gas will come out. The most important thing is when you are done and everything is back to normal make sure you prime the filter. Turn the key forward to the on position (Not starting), then turn off and then do it again. Then you may start the vehicle and watch for leaks. You want to prime the filter twice so you don't burn out the fuel pump. Other than that it should be fairly easy. Just have a 16mm and 20mm open end or line wrench handy and you should be all set.Fuel filter?Well, first you have to remove that damned #3 from the back window, or I am not going to help you with anything. I am cool with the Red Wings sticker, but that #3 sticker has to go, and I mean now!

How do i release the fuel pressure on a 1996 Oldsmobile 88/LS?

I need to change the fuel filter on my Olds 88 and i think there is a relay for it. If anyone knows what relay it is that would be helpful. Or maybe even where i can find the right relay to pull.

ThanksHow do i release the fuel pressure on a 1996 Oldsmobile 88/LS?There's nothing that can be done with the fuel pressure regulator to relieve fuel system pressure. And it doesn't look like a switch. It's a small round silver canister attached to one end of one of the fuel rails, with a vacuum hose attached to it.

The fuel pressure can be relieved by running the engine dry after removing the fuel pump relay or fuse (#6 in your passenger side fuse panel), but the easiest way is to just depress the Schraeder Valve on the fuel rail. Use a small screwdriver to depress the valve, holding some shop towels/rags around it, to keep it from spraying all over the place.

If you have a '05+ the filter is in the tank. Subaru recommends you replace it every 30,000 miles but it is so easy to change that many people replace it every 15,000 miles. Thank you! What is the entire process of changing the fuel pump and fuel filter in a 1985 toyota cressida?the first step is to jack up the back of the car. undo the bolts on the straps that hold the tank in place and the ones on the filler neck. lower it down with a jack cause if its full it will be heavy. the leak you have is probably around the sending unit gasket. so take the sending unit out and that will be your easiest way to drain it. without siphoning. replace the gasket on the sending unit. but after you drain it. get some lacquer thinner and dump in the tank about a gallon and slosh it around and let it sit over night. this will remove the dye and sludge build up in the tank. while your doing that. take your gas line and use a compressor disconnect the line at the carburetor and blow through it with the compressor. if you have an in-line filter you will need to replace it with a new one. after that take the carb off and put a kit in it because it will be gummed up from the dye in the gasoline. there is a filter at the inlet of your carb gas line be sure to change that also. take the carb apart and soak it in lacquer thinner be sure to take the jets out then reassemble the carb with a new kit hook up the gas line empty the tank and blow inside it with the compressor to dry it out replace the sending unit bolt it back in place and fill it up. that should have you up and running in 1 days time.

Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma?

I am having problems starting my truck. We have tried to change the fuel filter but it is still not starting. It will start for a few seconds if we add gas directly to the carburetor. The fuse is not blown, we checked that, the next thing we can think is the fuel pump, but we know neither where it would be or how to tell if it is working. Please Help!!!! Thank you.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? The fuel pump is in the tank. On the 1996 model, it is required 50 p.s.i. to start the engine. even if you hear a %26quot;buzzing noise%26quot;, the pump may still be bad. if it is not producing enough volume, or pressure. also check the fuel pump relay. it is located under the hood in a fuse/relay panel. look at the fuse/relay legend to find the relay. have someone turn the key on if the relay %26quot;clicks%26quot; it is generally good. second find the wiring harness that goes to the tank, under the truck, on the frame rail, thee will be a gray wire in that harness. probe that wire with a test light and have someone switch the key on again, the test light should burn for about 3 seconds, that will tell you that the fuel pump is getting power and the fuel pump is bad. drop the tank and replace the pump. all though, quite costly, as it only comes as a complete unit, it is the only way to fix your truck.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma?I dunno.. I can't see it.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma?in the fuel tank!Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma?Probably mounted on the tank.

Take of the fuel line and see if fuel comes out, also check for a clogged filter.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? It is probably inside the gas tank, to see if it is working merely take the fuel line off the injector(I'm assuming it's fuel injected) and turn the motor over while someone holds the line over a bucket, if it shoots gas into it then your fuel pump is fineWhere is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? You are correct if spray starting fluid into the throttle body and is running 9 times out of ten it is the fuel pump it is located in the fuel tank and will take you about an 11/2 hrs to fix drop the tank and it is on the topWhere is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? As the lady said..its in the tank...... had to replace mine several months ago.... We removed the rear bed to do it... lots easier than dropping the tank...just a few wires and 6 bolts....we used a small engine lift and a nylon strap.... worked for us....Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma?it's at the front on which ever side the gas cap is. outside the tank before you get to the rear or front seat. (Dual Or Single Cab.)

raise up from the bottom of the vehicle about 6 inches.

When You Fill Up, The Fuel Should Be Alot Colder that the fuel already going throught the line, just after you fill, go to the side and have the car idling and if the fuel line is getting colder rather quickly, and/or the pump is gently wibrating, then it should be working fine.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? It is in the gas tank your truck needs 50 pounds of pressure in the fuel system to start. The fuel pump is a common problem on that model truck so I would bet that is the problem. I hope you don't have the tank to full it is a pain to drop the tank when it's full.

PS don't even think about smoking while you are replacing the pump.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? The fuel pump is in the gas tank. The entire tank will have to be removed and then the fuel pump assembly can be removed. But before you do that: The easiest test is to put a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail and see if the fuel pump can achieve about 45 PSI of pressure, that is what is required to start these vehicles.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? The fuel pump assembly is located inside of the fuel tank. The tank will have to be removed for service of the pump. A way to check for low fuel pressure is to turn the ignition key on and off 2 to 3 times to prime the fuel rail then see if it will start. You should here a buzzing every time you turn the key on. If not then either the pump has failed completely or more likely has a broken wire in the harness on top of the tank.Where is the fuel pump on a 1996 GMC sonoma? When you have your tank dropped to get this repaired, be sure that your mechanic checks all the contact points. I had a loose ground wire on my fuel pump that drove me crazy because it worked SOMETIMES.

How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?

I drive an '85 chrysler 5th Avenue. I'm not a total ignoramous when it comes to car maintainance. I changed the fuel filter today, and it occured to me that it's probably about time to change the spark plugs, too.

This is something I want to learn how to do for it's own sake; in the name of competence. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?the one thing to remember above all else...only do one at a time and then put the wire back on before going on to the next one. if you have two off and forget which one is which, they could be put on wrong, causing the plugs to fire at the wrong time. will sound funky.

be sure to check the gap...the distance between the plug and the L shaped piece. if it is now right, it could cause problems. your owners manual should have that info. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car? With a plug socket and socket wrench.

As for the particulars, the V-6 in that car is very difficult to work on. Also you will want to make sure the gap on the plug is gapped to manufactors spec if the car is stock. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?I would suggest getting a Chilton manual for that car. It is possible that they need to be torqued to a certain spec--not sure on that. But you will need to change each plug separately to keep the firing order in line.

Also, I would change the wires too. Tha helps performance and increases gas mileage. Again go one at a time and don't mess up the firing order.

Basically, just remove a wire and a plug, replace it and move on to the next one. You will probably need a deep-well socket for the plugs. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?fairly strait foward for the 4 cylinder remove old one gap a new one and tighten it down, buy a cheap tourqe wrench if you don't feel comfortable guessing on it, once you own one it's really nice to have if you do a lot of your own work. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?I recommend that you go to a parts store and get one of those HAYNES manuals for about $16.00,and it will tell you about a whole lot more than just how to change your plugs. How do I change the sparkplugs in my car?if it has aluminum heads you will want to put anti-seize compound on the spark plug threads before you put them in. this insures that the plugs can be removed laterHow do I change the sparkplugs in my car?i think you should the plug wires as well. socket and wrench. pull the wires off and mark them. then match up the new ones. this will help to get them back on right

    Fuel Filter 97 Chevy Blazer?

I was needing to change my fuel filter and I was wandering if someone could tell me where its located and how to take it off. I have a 97 Chevy Blazer 2 door, 4 wheel drive. Fuel Filter 97 Chevy Blazer?it should be along the frame, on the driver,s side back by the back tire. i believe it take that special tool to get the clips off.Fuel Filter 97 Chevy Blazer?it SHOULD be located inside of the left framerail about midway back. it has been a while since i have tooled on a blazer, but im pretty sure its correct. also, its mounted with tapered thread hex head fittings so your standard run of the mill wrenches should do the trick. first clean the area around the filter, the filter itself, and the fittings screwed into it. when you loosen the fuel line to change the filter, there might be residual pressure in the line, so be extremely careful!! now. remove both fittings (after cleaning the outside of the filter and fittings, and noting the orientation/direction of the filter), slide the filter out of its mounting bracket, and replacement is opposite of removal.Fuel Filter 97 Chevy Blazer?Drivers side right next to the frame rail and gas tank. Removal is pretty simple, just unscrew the fuel line on one side and unclip the other side. Installation is pretty simple also as the filter can really only go in one way, GOOD LUCK!!!!

  • Fuel filter depressurize?

i drive a 2001 s10 i want to change the fuel filter. my gas light is on and i was wondering if i still have to depressurize it first if so how do i do that? if not what would happpen if i didnt?Fuel filter depressurize?Just crack open the fuel filler cap, that will release most of the pressure and stop fuel pouring out when the filter is disconnected.Fuel filter depressurize? You can depressurize it on the fuel rail under your hood. The valve looks similar to the air valve on your tires. Even if you don't depressurize, it is still OK to replace the filter. It may squirt a little gas, but not much. Just place a rag over the connection as you disconnect it to be safe. A Haynes or Chilton's manual for your vehicle will give you details on where to find you filter, how to disconnect it, how to depressurize etc. It would be a good investment to get the manual because of your vehicles age. Other things will begin to need replacement and the manual can show you how on almost any repair.Fuel filter depressurize?can just loosen fuel line a little at a time

How long should a fuel pump in a 2001 Ford Powerstroke last?

We just got a pretty big trailer, and when pulling it up hills on our first trip, things started out fine, but then we lost power. I changed the fuel filter, things were fine for almost 200 miles. Then, going up a hill again yesterday, we lost power. I changed the fuel filter again, paranoid that I had gotten bad gas, and it worked again. I really don't think I got bad gas, as I had run two good tanks of fuel through. Could it be the fuel pump? This has the frame mounted electric pump- is it as easy to change, with the right tool, as my friend says? Fuel filter and carb not always getting fuel

85 Z28 camaro with a 350 small block. Two months back after you drove the car around town shut it off come back later it would start and shut back off when you put it in gear. So we did take everyones ideas from here and found the Distributor did need changed two of the spark plug wires was lose on the cap. We changed cap rotor and coil. three week later it wouldn't even try to start so we had it towed to the shop and the Ignition Module needed changed. Yesterday my son came home handed me the keys and told me to sell it. He said it stalled at a light and wouldn't start so he pushed it off the road and walked home. I went to try it and it started great but ran for a few seconds and shut off. I checked the fuel filter it was only half full and then i checked the carb it was dry no gas at all. I came home got the starting fluid went back spayed it in the carb it ran a few second and shut off so i did it again after about 10 minutes it started and shut off. I got out checked the fuel filter again and this time it didn't have any fuel in it.My husband pulled in and he got out and checked it and found no gas in carb or filter, He wanted to try the starting fluid it did the same thing with him so he wanted to call tow truck i said no way i think this car is in love with that tow truck. I got in and pumped it and he did the starting fluid and he ran as long as I keep my foot on the gas as soon as i let go it sounded like it was going to stall and did. i turned the key it started then shut off. I told him to do the starting fluid one more time and this time i pumped it and then held the gas pedal to the floor and it started running bad but running i drove it home putting it in neutral at red lights keep it running but it still sounded like it was going to stall. We got home pulled off the fuel line turned the key and no fuel at all came out and the fuel filter had no fuel at all.Not sure how this car made it home like that. We changed the fuel filter took it for a drive it run good checked fuel filter and carb they both had gas. This morning I started it and it was running great i pulled it out of the driveway so my husband to get out and then by the time i pulled it in to the garage it didn't sound right so i checked filter and carb fuel filter was dry and carb had very little. I told my son not to go far away from home with it but he did. he drove about 20 miles to a friends house and it didn't shut off about six hours later he left there to come home and about a mile from the house it shut off seconds after he left a red light. A few hours later we went to try to start it and two turns of the key and it started and we didn't use starting fluid. We welcome any ideas we have had to tow this car six times in the year we have had it because of it stalling and not wanted to start we have had it taking to three auto repair places and no can find out why. It has a new crate motor and the fuel pump it only seven months old the carb is a brand new holly just got it in Jan of this year. new wires and plugs in Jan. Fuel filter and carb not always getting fuelIf it has a carburetor then it has a mechanical fuel pump.

Disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor and crank the engine. Does fuel spit all over the place?

YES: There is adequate fuel supply. The problem is probably in the carburetor.

    NO: Consider the following:

    1. Bad fuel pump

    2. Supply line collapse or restriction

    3. Clogged vents in gas cap

By the way, there should only be one fuel filter. It is located inside the carburetor right where the fuel line connects. There is a housing that contains (usually) a paper element.

Good luck!Fuel filter and carb not always getting fueltl;dr

Anyways, basic skimming points to a fuel filler cap. It might be fuel locking and starving the motor of fuel, and then when it dies it comes back a few minutes later cause the air in the line moves back.

Fuel filter and carb not always getting fuelHow are the fuel tank and pick-up? Lines from tank to filter? I would start there, based upon what I am reading. Filler cap on an 85? that far back ok, sounds good to me. If not move on. Thanks for the info.Fuel filter and carb not always getting fuelonly one possible / probable cause for not getting fuel, the filter in the tank or the pump its self, i would drop the tank drain and clean it, there are companies that do this-and have the tank coated on the inside, this really helps bigtime, it will also stop, repair and pinholes that may have been forming, the fuel pump has to be the mail problem, now, with a carb the pump is mechanically driven, it is on the passenger side of the block, since it will run with starting fluid the fuel pressure is the problem, holley makes a nice pump thats mechanical and you can adjust the position of the inlet and return /vent lines, good luckFuel filter and carb not always getting fuelTHE PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL PUMP, CHECK FOE VOLTAGE AT THE FUEL PUMP WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS, YOU CAN DO THIS WITH A TEST LIGHT FROM KRAGEN OR SOMETHING. IF SO, THEN CHECK AND SEE IF YOU CAN HEAR IT, DO THIS BY TURNING ON THE IGNITION AND LISTEN FOR A LOW HUMMING NOISE. ALSO LOOK AND SEE IF ANY FUEL HOSE OR LINES ARE PINCHED. TELL ME IF IT HELPS.Fuel filter and carb not always getting fuelFirst does it have a electric fuel pump or a mechanical fuel pump if it has a mechanical fuel pump it could be worn out and leaking gas into the motor and not pumping it into the carb or if it has a electric fuel pump u could have a ground or power issue making the pump shut off now and then due to bumps (pot holes) in the road causing the wires to move and killing the pump so once u run out of the gas thats in the carb the car stalls out Fuel filter and carb not always getting fueltry the crankshaft position sensor, and the throttle position sensor if you have either one of those ,,,,

also it sounds like your TIMING is off ..i don't think it is the timing chain though because you didn't mention a back fire.............i think your spark is hitting after the fuel has been released ....which leads me to think it may be your fuel pump .....i understand that it is about 7 months old but autozone has been having problems with fuel pumps the last few months..also check for a fuel relay for your vehicle......autozone.com has online repair manuals and troubleshooting guides and componet locator guides for many vehicles

Changing a Fuel Filter... Is it easy?

I have a Suzuki Swift, 98. I am experiencing a slow patch when hitting hills etc and a drop in power. I believe it could be the fuel filter. How easy is it to take this out and is it possible to clean it for the time being?

    Many thanks,

JoeChanging a Fuel Filter... Is it easy? Its to easy!

get yourself a pair of pliers and squeeze the clamps and slide the rubber hose back and take your old one out and squeeze the clamps again and insert the new one thats if its a carburetor model but if its a fuel injected gti style engine you will need a 12mm spanner and unbolt it from underneath the car.Changing a Fuel Filter... • What is an approximate Labor Cost for getting my Fuel Filter changed?

On my 1991 Oldsmobile Calais, the Fuel Filter is right on the bottom of the Fuel Tank, I can see it. So, it LOOKS Easy to change. Given this, what would a labor Rate be on it, approximately?

You would have to call up various shops %26amp; find out their %26quot;flat rate.%26quot; I would suggest a %26quot;mom %26amp; pop shop.%26quot;

Don't worry about a little dripping fuel. It is inevitable, but it won't be huge puddles or anything.

the only tools you would have to buy would be a set of metric wrenches, %26amp; for that job you could buy the cheap Chinese wrenches. The price of those would probably be cheaper than the labor charge from a shop.

Good luck. What is an approximate Labor Cost for getting my Fuel Filter changed? This is a relatively simple change. The fuel filter has metric threaded nuts on each end of

it. Some metric line wrenches is all you need. When the pressure has been released in the

system there will be no forced fuel coming out of the tank so the only drainage will be what is

still in the line and fuel filter. Best to have a shop do this . Figure $ 45.00 for the entire job.

That is, unless it very rusted and changing this becomes more time consuming and complicated.

There is no need to drain the tank, but having less fuel is better if there are complications and

that tank needs to be drained. Whatever you have in there should be fine.

How do I increase the life of my car?

I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS with 134,300 miles on it.

I recently had a %26quot;tune-up%26quot; which involved changing out the plugs and wires. Does this increase the life of the car? What else can I do to increase the life of my car (besides belt changes, fluid flushes, oil changes, fuel filter and oil filter changes, and other routine maintenance)? I want this car to last until 200,000 or even beyond. The only problems I've had with it have been relatively minor (fuel pump needed changed and turn signals needed to be replaced which was on a recall and I had both done for free; something with the radiator pump or something the other needed to be replaced, which was just a $30 job; and I think that's all that's really gone wrong.)How do I increase the life of my car?In order to make your car last a long time, you need to make sure you get regular oil changes (including the oil filter). Another thing that helps is keeping it clean. I suggest washing your car at least once every two or three weeks. About every 3 washes, make sure you wax it. Paste wax is the easiest to work with in this application. Make sure you go by the book and have regular mantinence at the scheduled intervals. I would also make sure te tires have the proper amount of pressure in them to keep those last as long as they can. Depending on where you live during the colder winter months, make sure you let your car warm up for at least 5 minutes!! It is very hard on an ice cold engine to run in winter conditions! Other than that, make sure you know how your car runs. Also %26quot;listen%26quot; to your car. That way if something goes wrong, you can hear or feel it on the wheel. How do I increase the life of my car?The car will last as long as you keep doing the maintenance. At somepoint the cost of the maintenance isn't justified. Why put $1500 in repairs towards a car that isn't worth $1500?

You should know what the value of the car is, then decide if fixing it is a good use of your money.

Most cars get to a point where the high $ repairs start coming in constantly, at that point your more or less making a car payment anyway...

I have 1999 Nissan Maxima with 155K miles on it. It's getting to that point now. Just invested $2K in service + brakes, now it needs fuel injectors for another $1K. The trade-in value is just over $3K, when do I say uncle? How do I increase the life of my car?depending on the make of the auto some cars will surpass 200,000 miles quite easily. Not knowing the make or model of your car I would say your on the right track all ready with your regular ,routine maintenance program.Changing motor oil is one of the most important and vital things you can do. However you can make a huge difference in the vehicles life expediency,by the way you drive it.I mean if you let it warm up in the morning or at the beginning of your commute, this will make your engine happy. Also after your commute let your engine idle for a few minutes, before shutting it off. This will let the hot engine cool and reduce wear and tear on moving parts and sealing components Heavy or hard acceleration is kind of rough on an engine as well as the transmission. This too should be avoided,as well as hard deceleration or coming to a sudden stop from a high speed. Have you ever heard the phrase yep this vehicle is a real cream puff, all highway miles on her, perhaps during a sale of a vehicle? There is a big difference in highway miles vs stop and go city traffic miles on a vehicle. I would stay away from any oil additives like prolong engine treatment or slick 50 to name a couple. These oil additives are not at all necessary if you take care and use common sense, which you seem to already have.I think your on the right track alright and should be fine.Good Luck Drive Safe

Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?

I have to put fuel into my Carbuerator to get my car just to start. Today my engine light came on and when I took it to get checked out, it was code 452, and was saying something about fuel pressue being low. So what I want to know is, is it the Fuel pump gone bad or the Fuel filter that is clogged or gone bad? I have a 2001 Chevy blazer and I just dont think that the fuel pump will be bad on it since its a newer car. I was told that its possible that my fuel filter is just clogged and needs changing. I already did a fuel injection cleaner but that didnt do anything. How much would it cost to change the fuel filter??? Please dont tell me to take it to the dealer, thanksFuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?Chevrolet fuel pumps are junk, frankly. I work at a Chevy dealership, and we do fuel pumps hand over fist on cars with sometimes as little as 30k. It's hard to say without putting a fuel pressure gauge on the car, but the fuel pump probably is bad. If the fuel pump is bad, you should have the fuel filter replaced at the same time, because it probably hasn't ever been done. When the fuel filter clogs up, it makes the fuel pump work harder, which is just too much to ask for those crappy little pumps, so have the fuel filter changed every 15k or so, to maximize fuel pump life. Labor times for fuel pump replacement are 2.1 hours for a 2 door blazer, 3.0 hours for a 4 door, and if the tank has a shield on it, thats another 0.5 hours. The fuel pump is somewhere in the range of 500 to 550 dollars. Most shops will charge 1.0 hour to diagnose the problem, and the fuel filter pays 0.7 hours to replace, some shops charge less so they can sell more of them. I don't know what labor rates are in your area, dealerships are around 100 dollars an hour around here, independent shops are around 75. I personally would advise against trying to get a cheaper aftermarket fuel pump, as bad as the factory pumps are, the aftermarket ones are even worse, and a total waste of money. Go with factory parts-make an issue of it with your mechanic if you need to.Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?A fuel filter usually costs about $10 from walmart and it is extremely easy to replace. My guess about 15 minutes by any mechanic.

Simple troubleshooting, spend the few dollars and eliminate that possibility.

Fuel pump could be bad, or the fuel pressure regulator. It is vacuum operated, so there might be a possibility that you lost a vacuum hose on or near the regulator. These are all easy things to check and any mechanic would be able to diagnose it. You don't have to go to the dealer.

    Good luck.

Edit: Upon further thought, you might have a fuel injector that is stuck open and releasing the fuel pressure after it has set for a little while. Again, this isn't hard to diagnose, a decent mechanic can find this as well.Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?Fuel pressure valveFuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?You have not given enough information to tell you exactly what is wrong, but it is a safe guess that the fuel filter may be at fault. You would need fuel pressure readings to know if it is a fuel pump, it could even be the injector or the computer or the ignition module for that matter.Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?A fuel filter for your vehicle is only a few dollars. When trying to diagnose a problem without alot of special test equipment, or experience... Always replace the least expensive part (filter) first! That way, even if it doesn't fix the problem, you haven't wasted alot of money. If your engine continues to run on it's own after you pour gas in your carb./thottle body, you can assume the pump is working but fuel flow is restricted.Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?I own Chevy檚 and have always, with these computers you are best advised to stay with the dealer part. The fuel filter is located likely as on mine under the vehicle just ahead of the tank mounted on the frame in the wide open. Any one can replace it with an IQ above 40. If you'll go by a dealer take your insurance card with you they can pull up your exact vehicle by the VIN number located on your insurance card. Change the filter and see where you're at. Because one way or the other the filter should be changed and it's very likely the filter because one trip through a cheap gas station with filth in their storage tank can wipe out the filter and besides by time you paid to have it checked you could have just changed it yourself. From there if you still have fuel problems it is the pump which is mounted in the tank and requires the tank to be pulled and drained to service it. If the vehicle is still run able then drive it until the warning light comes on that you are near empty then have the pump replaced. I would locate a good dependable mechanic to do the work and supply the pump yourself purchased as you did the filter. It isn't rocket science to install but one has to be strong enough to handle the tanks weight with what ever amount of fuels in it. If you have some gear head male friends they can do it in a driveway and save you a heap of money. Shops going to charge for disposal of the old fuel and for new fuel to run on as well. Also don't start the car by pouring gas in the throttle body (carb as you call it) because there is a high risk of fire, use starting fluid that comes in a spray can and is available at Wal-Mart or anywhere else that carries the basics. I have had to replace the fuel pump two times on a 1989 pickup with 225,000 miles on it. I also have a 94 Chevy that hasn檛 ever been changed so I don檛 agree that they go out left and right as stated in another answer.Fuel Pump Vs Fuel Filter? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY)?First off I am scared of where you are placing fuel at!!! You say you have to put it in the carb, yet later you say you have injectors. If your running fuel intot he throttle body, then you are opening yourself up for a problem. All I can say is change the filter first, since it is easier and cheaper. If you still carry the fault then you know it might be the pump. You will have to take it to the dealer to get it changed cause it is most likely inside the gas tank, not fun to change.

Anybody know ?An oil change place such as jiffy lube should be able to do it for you. Changing fuel filters although generally easy to do can have consequences for being done improperly by somebody inexperienced. You will need to let pressure off of the fuel rail before unhooking the filter.

I would recommend purchasing a service manual for your vehicle from Autozone. Newer vehicles also typically have a special disconnect tool that will be needed to remove the old filter. They run about 7-15 dollars.

I do not know what vehicles %26quot;Rudedude%26quot; has changed fuel filters on, but I have owned Fords, Chevys, and Suzukis, and have never heard of such prices for tools and fuel filters. I respectfully disagree with his answer. Snap-on tools are also not practical for the average home-mechanic due to their high cost. There are much more practically priced disconnect tools available.

Anybody know ?You can do it yourself but your going to have to buy some tools to do it. • Changing the fuel filter?

How do you change the fuel filter in a 2000 hyundai tiburon? I cant get to the bottom nut from under the hood and no way to reach it under the car?Changing the fuel filter?Under the hood? Are you sure that's the fuel filter your unhooking? Normally on those vehicles there right near the fuel tank.Changing the fuel filter?find a way to get under the car sorry thats the only way without other expensive tools..Changing the fuel filter? If access is the problem maybe you can remove some accesories like the air filter housing and the air duct.I'm not sure if it's the same as hyundai lantra or elantra. Being both hyundai I'll make this assumption.( the fuel line is pressurize so the first time you crack it the fuel could squirt in you eyes or face, so make sure you look away or wear an eye protection. it's not really bad you just have to be aware of it.Or the proper way to do it is to disable your fuel pump by disconnecting the electrical wire or the fuse and start your car until it stop.but I don't think it's necessary}.The fuel filter is in vertical position with the inlet on the bottom and outlet on top. To undo the bottom you need two spanner one to hold the filter and the other to undo the nut,.the one that is next to the base of the filter is part of the filter so (that is only to hold it while turning the other) the one that you turn is the bottom nut.Once you loosen it then you can undo them both completely and just remove and replace.Be sure to put the washer properly or it can leak after you install it.I hope this was helpful.

How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?

My car is running funny and someone told me to check the filter, but before i go ripping off my gas tank i was wonder what a car runs like when it needs changed? How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?first off you fuel filter can be anywhere depending on what type of car it is, yes most cars have one in the tank but also a main filter somewhere in line between the gas tank and the motor. What kind of car is it? It is a good idea to replace your fuel filter, once it starts to get restricted it puts extra strain on your fuel pump and can take out your fuel pump. But assuming its a late model fuel injected car.......I doubt your fuel filter is causing a poor running condition. It is possible, but from my experience I have RARELY seen a fuel filter cause any sort of poor performance. How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?runs dies runs dies splits pops dies runs dies bucks jumps pops dies give gas it dont go but fuel filters need to be change once a year or more... and most offen really now days where peolpe are running tank slow and stations running tanks low means more chances there trash cost like five bucks and most anyone can replace it easy and not all of them are inside the tankHow will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?

Most likely it will idle fine, but will bog down when trying to accelerate. Even if these aren't your symptoms, changing the filter is a cheap and easy maintenance item, that should probably be replaced anyhow.

How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed? They hesitate when you give it gas from a take off..they miss when you accelerate going down the road, sorta just miss all the time. You sure your filter is in the tank???How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?Fuel filter has nothing to do with the gas tank. It is not near the tank even. It is located near the engine. When the engine is cold, find the filter, there are two small hosepipe, one joins from top the other pipe joins on the bottom, discard the old one and replace with the new one. It is only 20 mins job. Make sure to put some rags under the fuel line when you disconnect it as there may be some petrol dripping. You will notice smooth running of your car after you have replaced it.How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed?GEEZE%26gt;...WHAT kind of car???How will my car run if the fuel filter needs changed? It will be rough. Where is my fuel filter?

i have a 1990 f150 302 fuel injected. i would like to change the fuel filter but not sure where its located. i know some are in the gas tanks, some are around the engine and some under the frame. does anyone know where its located or how i can find out?Where is my fuel filter?underneath on inner frame (drivers side)Where is my fuel filter?Along the frame on the left side of the truck, it's a round canister that you have to take off with a oil filter wrench.Where is my fuel filter?Round canister mounted on the inboard frame...true. An oil filter wrench to remove it... false. Use a pair of needle nosed pliers for the two small plastic fork-style holders, maybe a small flat screwdriver. DO NOT LOSE or TEAR UP the fork clamps. Use a 5/16 nut driver on the metal band clamp. don't get directly under the truck as you don't want to take a fuel bath... Don't get the Fram (toilet paper in a beer can) spend the extra 3 bux and get a motorcraft.

(edit) its OK if fuel comes out of the end of the line. when you get it all back together %26amp; you turn the key on it will pressure right back up.

  • How do I change/locate fuel and air filter on 1995 Mercedes C200 2.0i (petrol, manual)?

Hi does anyone how easy this is; does it need to go to dealer? I have bought new air and fuel filters and was going to try and do it myself or get a friend with some technical knowledge to do it - any ideas? Please help!

Thanks :-)How do I change/locate fuel and air filter on 1995 Mercedes C200 2.0i (petrol, manual)? The air filter is very easy but the fuel filter is more difficult as it's located under the car and by the differential. While the fuel filter can be changed by just putting the rear end up on jacks, it is much easier to change it with the vehicle raised on a hoist.

I should just mention that I'm in North America and we don't have the C200 here ( we only had the C220, C280 and the C36 in '95 ). However, the fuel filter is located in the same area though on the 4 and 6 cylinders on the early W202 models so I'm assuming that it's in the same place on the C200.How do I change/locate fuel and air filter on 1995 Mercedes C200 2.0i (petrol, manual)? The parts department at the dealer can tell you where the filters are located on your car.

You might be better off letting the dealer do the work, some well-meaning friends have been known to create bigger problems than the ones they were trying to solve. How do I change/locate fuel and air filter on 1995 Mercedes C200 2.0i (petrol, manual)?Bandit is right - the fuel filter is in the same place as US-Spec C220,C280 etc. There MIGHT be a plastic shroud (three plastic 10mm nuts) covering it from underneath but i am not sure if this is right for every variant.

Just make sure that you use some clamps on the fuel hoses (to prevent spills) and obey all usual precautions on working with open fuel system.

The clamp and screw that keeps the filter in place is usually corroded and it might be difficult to undo it; refrain from drastic methods of removal as there is risk of fire from sparking.

How to change a diesel fuel filter in a 2007 vw passat?

I recommend buying an http://www.haynes.com repair manual for your car. Diesel fuel filter replacement is trickier than gasoline fuel filters sometimes because you need to prime the fuel lines better to start the engine. Always fill the new filter canister with fresh diesel fuel before reinstalling the filter. You'll need a little fresh diesel fuel to do that. Then there is an air bleeder screw that is loosened while cranking the engine to purge any air from the fuel filter and lines. You may need a special wrench to loosen the filter. Make sure never to run too low on fuel because you can end up pumping water from the bottom of the fuel tank up into the fuel filter.

  • How did I mess up changing my fuel filter?

I have a 1991 toyota mr2. It was having a problem stalling out, but would usually start right back up, and sometimes it would take 10 or 15 times or a rolling start, but it would always start. I suspected it was the fuel filter. i put a ton of fuel injector cleaner and it stopped stalling completely, but I wanted to change the filter anyway, since it was probably filthy. I changed the fuel filter myself, and it seemed pretty simple, but now the car won't start. I didn't put it in upside down or swith the fuel lines, I'm sure. The only thing I didn't do was replace the bolts or washers, which everybody says you have to do, but I don't understand why. The only thing i could think of is that I misaligned the bolt with the fuel line (the bolt has a little hole in it, which should align with the fuel line) this makes sense, I'm going to try to align them tomorrow. any other suggestions? How did I mess up changing my fuel filter?Did you change plugs? If you dumped that store bought cleaner in you may of fouled plugs sobad they re not getting electric from wires. Check wires and see if getting ignition nd if it is then check plugs. Help, 7.3 liter fuel filter changed now I have problems.?

I recently changed the fuel filter on my 2001 7.3 liter power-stroke and now the motor is running as if it has a miss, little to know power, is idling rough and the service engine soon light is now on. What could cause this, how do I fix it?Help, 7.3 liter fuel filter changed now I have problems.?Changing the fuel filter more than likely has NOTHING to do with the problem you are experiencing now. And yes, you are correct in your statement that it does NOT have to be bled after fuel filter replacement since these engines use HIGH PRESSURE engine oil to control fuel delivery. This is why regular engine oil changes are EXTREMELY crucial on these particular engines. It sounds as though you have an injector dropping off, and/or a cylinder is not contributing. You'll need to have it scanned for DTCs to determine the problem area first and foremost. A generic %26quot;code reader%26quot; will probably not suffice, as you may end up needing to run a KOER cylinder contribution test as well as a KOEO injector buzz test to determine the cause of your symptom by the sounds of things. Common problem areas on 7.3L engines are burned out UVC wire harnesses and water intrusion into the IDM causing its failure. You'll need to have this diagnosed by an EXPERIENCED tech to solve your issue. Hope this helps.

  • How to change infiniti i30 fuel filter?

Does anyone know how to change a 200 infiniti i30 fuel filter? How to change infiniti i30 fuel filter?I had a 2000 m30 so it cant be to much different. its located on the passenger side frame rail . you'll need two line wrenches i think 5/8 %26amp; 11/16.How to change infiniti i30 fuel filter? The Infiniti fuel filter on fuel injected cars and trucks are typically located in the engine compartment or can be located under the vehicle on the frame and are a large canister that can handle fuel pressures exceeding 100psi. A typical Infiniti fuel filter has a hose coming out of ether end and may be clamped, threaded or have special fittings to ensure reliable connection to the fuel system. A Infiniti fuel filter for carbureted engines can be located at the inlet of the carburetor or the filter or may be in the fuel feed hose and will be a clear plastic type. Infiniti fuel filters are designed to trap dirt, water and other harmful contaminants that may cause problems with fuel systems. This is exceptionally important when dealing with todays fuel injected cars and trucks as even a microscopic particle or a minimal amount of water will contaminate your fuel injectors, causing hundreds of dollars in repairs. The typical Infiniti maintenance recommendation for carbureted cars is to replace the fuel filter once a year. On cars with fuel injection, most manufacturers only recommend replacing the filter after the first 100,000 mile. However, most Infiniti service professionals believe its best to replace the fuel filter every two years or 24,000 miles. A contaminated Infiniti filter will put undue pressure on the electric fuel pump, eventually wearing out the pump prematurely, or worse let contaminates get to the Infiniti fuel injectors. Spending a few extra dollars every few years will save you hundreds in future repair costs. Infiniti fuel filter replacement is fairly easy and is something you can do yourself! But be careful as on fuel-injected cars, the fuel system remains under pressure even with the car off! In any case gas is highly flammable, so if you do decide to change your own Infiniti fuel filter or work around fuel, do not use an electric droplight to see under the car or in the engine compartment. Use a flashlight! Many houses have burnt to the ground from gas splashing on the electric light bulb causing a huge fire!
