It's one thing to have your car catch fire, but if it happens inside the garage... well, you get the idea. How much gas should come out of my fuel filter when I replace it?if the fuel pump isnt on then it will prob. stop. theres quite a bit in the filter itself so thats prolly what your seeing. How much gas should come out of my fuel filter when I replace it?If it's fuel injected, you should have relieved the line pressure before removing the filter bolt.
Here's the way the pros do it. They get vacuum caps in assorted sizes and remove one end of the line and quickly cap it off. Most of the gas will be coming backwards from the fuel rail back down towards the filter. So cap that off first. Then remove the connection to the fuel tank.
Hope that helps.
